When we are sick...

Baby was running a high fever but that didnt stop us from practising our flying kungfu stances on the sofa.

Mummy got a scolding from Daddy for filming this video instead of stopping us from stomping all over his precious leather sofa. Oops...

And then we also practised our rendition of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance...

...and Colbie Caliat's Kiss the Girl...

Check out my brother's nifty dance moves!

Can't tell that we were both sick huh?

Mummy: The drum set and microphone rank as one of the best toy buys of the century! They play with it almost everyday!

And here is Baby Bone when his fever was at its highest...he was lethargic and literally stayed curled up foetal like for almost 2 hours today!

or maybe it was because we monkeyed around too much...oops...

HFMD again!!

Daddy left on a biz trip last night and i cried buckets as he left the house. I was so upset that i couldnt stop wailing and even cried myself to sleep.

This morning, i woke up complaining of dizziness and even vomitted once. Mummy thought i simply had a rough night and even tried to cajole me to go to school (?!!)

She finally relented when i vomitted again and started to develop a fever. I also could not stomach anything, which was RARE as i usually had milk and cornflakes, followed by bread and cheese or bananas or wathever i could lay my hands on...for breakfast.

And so we set off for the doctor's all the same, just to get me checked out. Mummy didnt think it was anything serious though, probably just a minor stomach bug that would clear within a day or so.

After a check by the doctor, i was diagnosed to be suffering from a viral infection and i was to be given some med and ordered lotsa rest. However while we were waiting for my medicine, Mummy noticed some red spots on my hands and feet.

Her worst fears were confirmed when a 2nd check by the doctor verified that i had contracted the dreaded HFMD.

What?? HFMD again?! But but what about my Children's Day Carnival in school tomorrow??

I could literally see alarm bells ringing in Mummy's head, cos the last time i was down with HFMD, things were really bad. I couldnt eat anything at all (Mummy had to freeze sugar cane juice for me to suck), had a raging fever that wouldnt abate and basically cried hysterically almost the entire day. (I was only 18mths old then)

What more so now that there's Baby in the house, im sure she was terribly afraid that i would have had already infected him with it.

Once we reached home, i was isolated in Mummy's room and Baby was confined downstairs. Over the next 4 days, i spent all my time within these 4 walls, and i almost went out of my mind.

Bored out of my skull

Thankfully, my fever subsided within a day and my voracious appetite was back to normal by nightfall.

I was begging Mummy to let me go to school the next day cos there was a huge carnival planned for us but she kept saying that i was still unwell and that i would pass the germs to my friends.

But i feel ok!! I could eat and sleep and the 2 puny ulcers in my mouth didnt bother me at all.

Alas, Mummy wouldnt waver and so i was imprisoned in her room for the next few days, even though i felt perfectly fine. The only signs of HFMD were faint spots on my feet and one spot on my hand.

I was sooooo disappointed to miss the carnival in school. Hmph!

Mummy thought the worst was over on the 5th day and i was allowed back downstairs. However, that day Baby Bone came down with a high fever.

Sigh...so i did infect him after all.

So much for imprisoning me!!!

Here he is at the doc's office

Down again??

This is what transgressed after my eye and ear infection. Good old doctor says the bug has now infected my throat as well. Now i have a raging fever and a nasty cough. Ugh!

See, i even have to sleep upright or else i cant breathe. Pathetic huh...

Look at my array of meds!

Mummy tried not to give me all of them though, preferring to let me fight the germs myself

And since im stuck at home the whole week, she has to try her best to "homeschool" me - with activity books and educational websites on the computer!

Mummy: Seems like Thane is pretty strong now. Terelle was so sick but he was the only one who remained unscathed.

Sick days...

Im siiiiiiiick!

Ive a high fever, diarrhea and to make matters worse, 6 of my teeth are erupting at the same time. Im so miserable!!

Because Baby Bone is sick, Mummy cant bring us out. So she came up with ways to entertain us, or more so ME, at home.

First, we baked!

Mummy gave me some flour, an egg, some water and sugar and told me to create something myself.

Hmmmm what shall master chef make today?

I guarantee you it'll be good!

I even gave the poor sick boy some of my "dough"

Yeeah!

Ta-da! Check out my little treats!

Mummy: They were supposed to be biscuits but they turned out to have bread like consistency and tasted like flaky mud. We ate them and said they were GOOD and then spat them out behind her back.

Sorry baby, totally unedible!

Then we hand painted shoes!

Look what Mummy painted specially for me!

I love them to bits, i wear them to school everyday!

Sorry no paparazzi pics please, leave a sick baby alone!

Mummy: The above picture was drawn by Terelle. I am so tickled by it!

She explained to me that the one in green is her, with a crown of course, and the one in blue is Baby Bone. She has a happy face while Baby is sad cos he's sick. She is holding on to poor baby's hand to "sayang him".

And the best part is...wait for it...there's orange poo coming out from Baby's backside. Wahahahaha priceless!

Bad flu bug

Jie Jie brought home a nasty bug from school and i ended up being very sick for almost a week. It all started with a cough on Monday, and Mummy didnt think too much of it till i developed a high fever on Wednesday morning. She brought me to the GP downstairs who inserted a suppository into my butt.
Poor me, i was screaming throughout the entire procedure.

Mummy started to get really worried when my fever didnt subside even after the suppository. Usually that bullet will work its magic almost immediately. My fever stayed persistently high the entire day and night, and Mummy was worried sick, sponging me through the night.

Cool water bath, standard operating procedure for us kids whenever we have a fever

Jie Jie having a good time keeping me company in the bath

The height of my flu came on Thursday night when no amount of rocking, patting and carrying would sooth me. My nose was a drippy mess and my hacking cough sounded really bad.
That night, my poor parents camped downstairs beside me on my mattress, cos they didnt want my coughs and cries to wake Jie Jie up. (She did wake up eventually, and quietly crept downstairs. Mummy got a huge fright when she saw this little, dark figure standing by the stairs. Now that was funny...haha...)
In the end, my entire family spent the night beside me, downstairs in the living room.

Mummy and Daddy brought me to the paediatrician on Friday morning, cos my flu didnt seem to abate. The doc diagnosed that i had mild bronchiolitis and ordered a round of the nebuliser immediately.

Surprisingly i was an angel throughout the procedure, quietly allowing them to administer the gas mask and i didnt fidget nor protest one bit.

I felt much better after the pd's meds and nebuliser and by Friday night, i was 80% back to normal. That night, my parents had a much better sleep, i only woke up twice!

Saturday was spent at home cos i still wasnt totally well.

Im seeeeeck! Hallo? See Mummy doesnt care, she's reading the papers!

Hmph, i shall just treat myself!

Hmmmm sounds bad....

Ah what the heck...maybe eating the stethoscope will help!

Jie Jie having great fun creating a masterpiece on the easel

And me having great fun defacing it...

Oops...i didnt do it! It wasnt me!

Daddy and Mummy decided to take us for a walk at the Reservoir since we were cooped up in the house the whole day, especially me...it was the whole week!

Wah! Check out that huge frog!!

See! Im feeling much better already

Cheers to good health!

My 1st dental visit

April 20th 2009
Mummy freaked out after hearing about kids my age having extensive cavities that she decided to make an appointment with a dentist to have my teeth checked out. Our family is very particular about oral hygiene, so i was pretty confident the dentist would not find anything wrong with my set of pearly whites. Dont worry Mummy!

Prior to the big day, Mummy kept describing how interesting a visit to the dentist would be, getting me all hyped up and eager to experience it for myself. On the actual day, i kept asking Mummy over and over again if we were going to the dentist after school. I even told all my friends proudly that i would be visiting the dentist, i was that excited!

Here I am, all prepped in the dentist's chair

It was so fun! I was not the least bit scared

The doctor was partly responsible for my enjoyable 1st visit. She was so gentle and kept talking to me, taking my attention away from the jarring whirrs and buzzing of the dental equipment.

Checking my molars

Her verdict? I had a perfect set of teeth! No cavities and hardly any plaque at all! She heaped loads of praise on Mummy and me, saying we should keep up the good work! See Mummy, I told u, u didnt have to worry one bit!

The good doc with me, and a latex glove fish balloon!

I had such a good experience! At the reception counter, i kept bugging Mummy to bring me back the next day, prompting amused giggles from the nurses.

So can i be the poster girl for Colgate? Hehe...
