SAM 8Q

Another last minute decision after art class in the morning, to head down to the Singapore Art Museum 8Q for the Children's Season. Mummy had heard rave reviews about it and kept badgering Daddy to take us all there since he was still on leave.

All excited at the entrance

The 1st installation was Walter's Garden (Walter is the big white rabbit in the picture above). It had artificial grass and triangular pillows which Kara and I used to clown around with.

And with the words "hop hop hop" in bright sparkling lights all around the room, who could resist not hopping around?

Errr everyone except Baby, that is. He was afraid of the prickly grass at his feet, as he is with sand, real grass, hair....the list goes on.

Did i mention that my brother is quite the wuss? Hahah...

Here he is, warily watching us from afar

We headed upstairs to do some coloring and crafts while waiting for the short feature films to start.

And then we were off to watch some really entertaining short films and cartoons

Next up was the Enchanted Forest, whereby a local artist had transformed a room into a magical make believe land where fish walk on stilts, sheep fly and various animals roam in unconventional settings.

Mummy managed to get her hands on a list of animals that could be found in the Forest and urged us to search for them. We really enjoyed ourselves running around trying to seek out all the funky animals!

Oh uh! Are we lost in the Forest?

We even decorated paper butterflies and later pasted them in the Enchanted Forest too, to be part of the exhibit

My favourite - Kung Fu Panda!

Some of the other animals in the Forest

Here we are playing "Seek and Find the Animals" with Mummy

Jotting down our "finds" and racing to see who could spot all the animals 1st!

Wait! There's always time for a spot of Yoga!

The next installation was the award winning Floribots, a huge group of robotic flowers that could "grow" and "bloom" before our very eyes.

Their behaviour was controlled by motion sensors that detected movement in the room, so they "danced", "slept", were "naughty" or were "bored" depending on what was happening around the room.

Way cool rite?

Can u tell the Floribots were excited with us running around the room?

The museum staff got a bit hot under the collar, with 3 crazy kids running all over the place so Mummy quickly herded us out and into the next installation. It proved to be just as interesting, if not even more so, and the Floribots were quickly forgotten.

Here at the Funky Forest, you could make a tree "grow" simply by standing in front of the screen. Once you had your tree, you had to direct "water" from the "waterfall" so that your tree would flourish.

Watch how i made a tree "grow"!

Then Baby and I pushed streams of "water" towards our tree

In the same room were the Daisies, which magically disappeared whenever we stepped on them only to reappear almost immediately behind us.

We spent a good 20min in this room alone, playing with the interactive exhibits over and over again!

Last but not least, we checked out the gallery on stop motion animation on the topmost floor.

Is Ben part of the movie?

Daddy trying to be one of the monsters in the film

We had a totally enjoyable time here at the museum. Hopefully Mummy will be able to bring us here again before the Children's Season ends!
