Nursery Rhymes - Educational or Inane?

Mummy lets me watch this vcd on Nursery Rhymes everytime i have my lunch or dinner. I am usually engrossed in it because i simply cannot believe how inane they can get. Here are a few examples:

Inanity #1
Sing a song of sixpence
Pocket full of rye
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing
Wasnt that a dainty dish to set before the king
Now come on, whoever was the sick person who thought of baking live birds in a pie; feathers, claws and all? And worse, what kind of mutant birds are they, that they can survive the baking process to actually sing when the pie was opened? This is one sadistic king with a taste for out-of-this-world gastronomy!
Inanity #2
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after
What violence! I imagine a boy with blood pouring out of a nasty gash on his head screaming his lungs out while his sister lies motionless nearby, her limbs twisted at weird angles. Gross...
Inanity #3
Half a pound of turpenny rice
Half a pound of treacle
That's the way the money goes
Pop goes the weasel
I believe this is a classic tale of how mercenary the world is. Perhaps the author is trying to tell us that money makes the world go round, be it buying necessities like rice or luxuries like treacle. And that ultimately the weasel i.e some money grubbing sleazebag will get his just desserts. Hmmm...profound...but why oh why make us jaded and world weary at such a tender age??
Inanity #4
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe
She had so many children she didnt know what to do
She gave them some broth without any bread
And smacked them all soundly and sent them to bed
This screams child abuse! Broth without any bread for poor, little growing children? And why must she smack them all soundly before sending them to bed? The pitiful little creatures...By the way who in the right sense of mind lives in a shoe??!!
