Babes at Botanic

We had alot of left over bread from my birthday party, so Mummy, who is a stickler for non-wastage of food, decided to take us to the Botanic Gardens and use it to feed the fish.

Baby safely ensconced in Gong Gong's lap

Fun at the Barrage

Mummy had a rare day when she didnt need to teach so she quickly packed our kite, some picnic food and bundled us into the car. Off we went to the Barrage!

Yippee what a treat!!

It was a great day out, cloudy, cool and breezy!

And look who came to join us! Shukai and Kaining!

They even brought along their racquets so we could play some badminton

We played some silly games as well

Madcap antics!

And here's proof that Mummy's training has improved my runs

No boy can catch me now, Daddy!

All in all it was a fun, impromptu day out!

Im FIVE!!

Mummy and Daddy promised me a party every alternate year so its PARTY TIME this year!!

I specifically asked or rather implored, for a bouncy castle this year, cos i really had a blast 2 years ago on the very same one!

Mummy and her 2 fav students aka god daughters preparing my party food

While i took my beauty nap upstairs

The bouncy castle in its full glory

Alas, as soon as my guests started arriving, the skies opened and it began to pour.

Daddy was pretty chagrined and he even made a pact with God. He bargained that if God could hold the skies so that i could have fun with my friends, he would begin to eat vegetables.

Mummy was both touched by his overwhelming desire for me to enjoy my party and amused at the same time.

Because we ALL know that Daddy and vegetables are never mentioned in the same breath, right? Mummy has been trying to get him to eat his greens for the past 17 years to no avail!!

My guests huddling inside from the rain which threatened to make my party a wash out!

Voila! Mummy's Underwater themed party food - Octopus sausages, Magic wands, Fish and jelly on sticks, Crown sandwiches...what a spread for my friends!

I guess God must have wanted Daddy to start eating his greens cos the rain stopped soon after and all of us scrambled out to begin the mayhem!

And then the madness begins!

Goofing around with my pals

Rare indoor pics before we scooted off outside again!

My friends hard at work on their goody bags

In my element...

...jumping around non stop!

All this time Baby stayed within the safe confines of the house, all the brouhaha outside was too much for him!

Check out the fracas!!

Are u calling it quits?? Get up!!

Let's go again!!

Or maybe we could scale the walls?

Or roll around shrieking like a crazed banshee?

Phew what a workout!

OK i really need to catch my breath now...

And then the skies opened again, but it was an opportune time for everyone to be ushered into the house for cake cutting and pinata demolishing!

You can tell i was totally over the moon dat day huh?

My lovely princess cake

Mummy had an "accident" the night before while attempting to bake my cake so we had to buy this cake from the store

And then it was time for the pinata!

Too many kids and too little goodies could be stored in the pinata so Mummy had to "manually" drop the bounty from the sky

Wah!! Chiong ah!!

And right after all that excitement, the rain stopped and we all rushed out for more action.

God is good!!

Check out my flying stunts!

No holds barred!!

WOOHOO!!!!!

And as per the last time, i was the first in the castle and the last out. I literally jumped till the very last minute when the rental guys came and deflated the castle.

Still going strong at 8pm

My crazy Mummy joining us in our inane stunts

Ure still scared baby???

Haiz ok maybe you should wait till you're older, then you wont get crushed by all the crazy kids!

You can be sure i slept like a log that night, but not before...

...opening all my presents!

A big thank you to everyone who made my birthday a roaring success! *Muakz Muakz*

And yes, Daddy IS eating his vegetables now! Hehe...

My maiden modelling journey

One day, while my parents were shopping for some new tees for me at FOX, the manager asked them if they were interested in submitting my pic, since they were conducting a nationwide search for kid models for their Spring/Summer Fashion Show.

Mummy and Daddy thought it would be fun so they submitted my pic just for kicks.

We didnt realise that it was quite a big deal until much later when we saw magazine adverts, flyers, postcards and even roadshows scouting for potential kid models.

Excerpt from the Young Parents Mag

To our surprise, I got called up for an audition which was held at United Square during the march school holidays.

There were almost 200 kids at the audition and i was pretty overwhelmed. Mummy thought i was going to bawl at the start cos i clung on to her and was hesitant going into the holding area for the kids.

She said that it was alright and that we could go home if i was unwilling to take part but i was determined to overcome my fear so i went in by myself.

Here we are signing in

Hoards of excited kids and their parents

Just before mummy had to leave me and go outside the barricade

All by myself in the holding area

My family!

Daddy wasnt around cos he had to work

As it turned out, it was not so bad after all! All i had to do was take a slow walk down the short runway, wave at the judges and walk back.

Easy peasy!

Posing in front of the judges

Mummy was so proud of me!

Of course i got heaps of praise from my family for being so brave but Mummy secretly thought i was rather robotic during the catwalk and i had a totally wooden expression plastered on my face.

So we thought my modelling experience would end there and then. Moreover, there were many other kids there that day who were so confident and poised as they strutted down the runway. Confirm no chance for me!

Nevertheless it was good fun, and my confidence was bolstered.

I even made some new friends at the audition!

Not forgetting my little brother!

A couple of days later, Mummy's jaw dropped when she received an email informing her that i had actually been selected as one of the kids for the actual Spring/Summer Fashion show at Paragon!

And so we went for a fitting a week before the actual show.

My first outfit

And the second change

Finally it was the day of the Fashion Show!

All of us were up bright and early and we headed down to Paragon for the rehearsal.

Model and baby brother

The stylist coaching us on how to work the runway

I was the youngest and the tiniest!

Baby watching me rehearse and playing with his dinos at the same time

Oops...he's getting bored and sleepy!

And then we were off to do our hair and makeup!

My 1st time in a makeup artist's chair!

Getting brushed...

...and painted

Voila! All done!

Next up on the agenda - Hair!

The nice hairdresser uncle gave me pretty curls

Mummy loves the retro curls!

Really suits the 70s bohemian Woodstock theme!

Making more new friends

It was great fun chatting and playing with them while we waited for our turns

At last it was 3pm and we were all set to go!

Peace and Love

The super long runway in its full glory

My clothes all hung out for me backstage

A bit stoned out and grouchy from lack of sleep

Its really tough being a model!!

Peeking out at my family from backstage

I took this pic by myself just before we set off on the runway!

And then the show began!

Mummy was extremely proud of me because i didnt balk nor bawl despite doing this for the very 1st time and being watched by crowds of people.

It was a milestone for me cos she knew i would typically hide behind her shyly whenever i encountered any strangers or new situations.

Aunty Mandy, Mummy's good friend and also my biggest fan

And of course my entire clan, who came down to support

This has been a truly eye opening experience for me and Mummy attests that my confidence has really sky rocketed!

She is very happy that i no longer hide behind her all the time.

And if this is my 1st and last stint as a model, at least something good came out of it! ;)
