Babes in Bali

Day 1 - 12th April 2007
We went on a week long trip to Bali together with Kara's family to celebrate both our birthdays. I was so happy to be able to go travelling (and wrecking havoc) with my buddy again!

The mischief starts right at the airport!

Since we had just celebrated our 2nd birthday, we were no longer eligible for infant fares. But i wasnt complaining! I had my very own seat and in flight entertainment system! Hey daddy, the extra money u forked out is worth it ok!!

Mesmerised by the cartoons on board

By the time we arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel, it was close to 11pm, way past our bedtime. But that didnt stop us from bringing down the house with our nifty dance moves, while our parents settled the boring check in procedures. Hey its the Hard Rock Hotel ok...uve got to groove baby!!

Day 2 - 13th April 2007
We woke up pretty late today, just in time to catch breakfast at the hotel cafe, cos today was supposed to be spent just exploring the shops around Kuta

Kara and I enjoying our leisurely and sumptous breakfast together!

Mummy i really think ill look nice in this bikini!!

It was sweltering hot as we traipsed around the numerous stalls trying to nab good bargains. Finally we ended up at a brand new shopping centre which Daddy and Mummy claim wasnt there 3 years ago. Aircon!! We couldnt have relished it more!

Our parents wasted no time getting their hands on ice cold mugs of A & W root beer!

Errr Kara...i think our mummies are buying up the whole shop!

All the walking and heat soon got to us, so we had a well deserved snooze in our sarongs while our poor mummies had to lug us around. Ahhh...The luxuries of being a baby!

Our parents couldnt bear the ardous walk back to the hotel, so they grabbed a cab to a rustic little restaurant for lunch. Despite the bumpy and extremely hot ride, we were still snoozing contentedly, oblivious in our little coocoons.

Mummy and Aunty Evon enjoying their authentic Indonesian cuisine..

...before i awoke and destroyed the peace!!!

Ooh...more yummy food!!!

Im HOT!! HOT HOT HOT!!

Uncle Caleb and Kara: Ahhhh terelle, dun take it out on us!!

After refueling, we headed back to the hotel to jump into the expansive and luxurious pool to cool down. We had great fun trying our hand at boogie boarding, with our parents' help of course!

Our pool escapade was rounded off with exciting rides down the water slide. Kara almost got drowned by Daddy cos he was carrying her as they descended down the slide. At the end of the ride, he lost his footing and they both went underwater for a good 5 seconds! Luckily Kara loves the water and although she emerged sputtering, she was none the worse for wear. Me on the other hand...i was traumatised by what i had just witnessed and had to be coaxed and cajoled before i even agreed to go on the slide to try it out!!

2 little mummies all wrapped up after our water play!

We all retired early after a simple KFC dinner, in anticipation of an excursion to the volcano tomoro!
Day 3 - 14th April 2007
Everyone woke up early today cos we were going on an excursion high up the mountains of Bali. The grown ups rented a car with a driver to take us on our mini expedition. It was a long ride though...luckily Kara and I had each other for company or we would have been bored to tears!

Are we there yet???

Entertaining each other during the ride

Pit stop and toilet break!

We finally arrived at the top of the mountain in time for a buffet lunch at a touristy restaurant. The beautiful views and the crisp, cool mountain air made up for the overly inflated price for the buffet lunch!

Views of the volcanic crater and crater lake

Everyone had a leisurely feast, including us!

Satiated by a yummy lunch and lulled by the cool air, us babes drifted off to sleep in our mummies' arms in the car, while the driver took our parents to the edge of the crater lake. They were disappointed though, as it wasnt much to rave about. A few villages, wooden boats and scattered villagers milling about were all there was to it!

Our mummies getting harrassed by the villagers for massages and manicures

Next stop was a monkey reserve where the monkeys there were worshipped like gods by the locals. They were in fact, spoilt rotten and would snatch anything that they fancied right out of the tourists' hands.

Daddy and I having just awoken from our naps in the car

One particularly vicious monkey had his eyes on an unfortunate lady's colorful handbag and proceeded to snatch it for himself. When she resisted, he actually bit her on her arms! We were horrified when we saw her sitting dazedly at the entrance of the park nursing her wounds. There and then our parents decided not to enter the park, lest the monkeys take a fancy to us babes and snatch us out of our mummies arms!! We would be outnumbered by the hordes of monkeys there and wouldnt stand a chance!!

Since we were not going into the park, we decided to grab some ice creams to take the edge off our disappointment. As we were heading back to the car, one greedy monkey cornered poor Uncle Caleb who had to grudgingly give up his ice cream, for fear of his life! Everyone was laughing so hard as we scrambled back to the car, our parents were so afraid the monkeys would come and snatch us away too!

Why u @#$%^&*( monkey!

Our driver suggested that we go for an elephant ride next in the virgin forests. The offer sounded v tempting to our adventurous parents but when we arrived at our destination after another long car ride, we found to our dismay that the prices were way too exorbitant! No way were we going to take an elephant ride that costs 50USD, no matter how natural and rustic the environment was! The elephants back home in the zoo were just as good!

Since it was almost dinnertime by then, we headed to Jimbaran Bay for some seafood. This time we were not disappointed! All of us enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, sitting outside admiring the waves and the setting sun while having drinks before dinner!

Yummy yummy cool coconuts!

Poster boys for Bintang beer!

Finally a nice end to a day of disappointment!

Day 4 - 15th April 2007
Today was spent doing more shopping in the morning before we departed for Club Med in Nusa Dua.

This is what Kara and I got up to while our parents were busy shopping!

It was another hot hot day and we were all melting!!

Back at the hotel where Kara and I had a chess game!

Horray! We're off to Club Med now to be pampered!

Toilet training time! Our mummies making us go butt naked again as soon as we entered our hotel rooms!

I promptly rewarded Mummy's efforts by doing a big one on the floor!! I dont know what the flustered adults did with the incriminating evidence! hehe...

Kara and i playing happily after our baths. We had adjoining rooms so we could run in and out as often as we liked to look for each other!

And then we were off for dinner! With this band i can have unlimited food! (Not that i eat much of it though...to mummy's constant chagrin)

Tearing the boutique apart by dragging all the toys out!

After a sumptous dinner, we all retired to our rooms in anticipation of tomorrow! Mummy and Daddy said that they will be putting us in the Petit Club Med, i wonder what that is?

Day 5 - 16th April 2007

Kara came over early this morning to wake me up, cos she was excited that we were going to the Petit Club together!

Me drinking milk and Kara "drinking" Barney

Our parents dropped us off at the Petit Club immediately after breakfast. We made minimal fuss as we didnt know what was in store for us! I had no idea that we would be left alone with strangers as our parents gadded off to enjoy themselves!!

After a fun filled morning of kayaking, our heartless parents came and checked in on us. Surprisingly we were calm and preparing to take a nap with the teachers. Mummy was so surprised that i actually allowed the teacher to pat me to sleep!

Having assuaged their guilt at dumping us at the Petit Club and satisfied that we were safe and not fussing, our parents headed off for a 3 hour long, guilt free snorkelling trip. We knew they had a great time, cos when they met up with us again, they were radiant and happy! Hmph..is looking after us that draining a task??

See?! Our callous parents could even sneak in time for a massage!

Mummy and Daddy hid behind a tree and watched as all of us trooped to the meeting place with our minders. I was clutching on to my blanket for dear life as it was all that i had to remind me of Mummy! Sob Sob! How could they leave me all alone??

*Sniff Sniff* to think you both can still watch from behind the tree and laugh at me!

Mummy dressing me up as Cleopatra at the Family Fashion Contest

kara and I showing off our makeshift outfits, created by our mummies!

Wah i even got a certificate for participating!

Here's the whole Petit and Mini Club kids and instructors!

After yet another hearty feast, it was time for our kids' fashion show! We were all dressed up in fancy costumes and paraded around the dining area for all the guests to see how cute we were!

2 fairy princesses with our parents' windsurfing instructor!

After an activity filled day, it was time for bed! I wonder what is in store for us tomorrow?
Day 6 - 17th April 2007

We were dropped off at the Petit Club again this morning. This time we protested violently but our parents still sneaked off when we were taking a cry break. Is windsurfing really more important than our emotional well being???
I was pretty distraught during lunch time so Mummy had to come and put me to sleep. When we awoke, we were taken for a picnic in the park and then to a mini race track for a motorised car race. Kara and I were quite intimidated by the noisy cars and boisterous older kids so we just sat by the side and watched. Our parents were back by then cos their sunset cruise was cancelled due to bad weather and we were tearfully reunited...

The kids' program at night was really fun though. We got our faces painted and then trooped off to the disco to dance the night away. We had so much fun that I refused to leave the disco, prompting Aunty Evon to remark thoughtfully that 15 years down the road, would I be the one dragging Kara off to dance parties and discos?? hehe...

My constantly dropping pants is cramping my style!! Mummy!!!!

Day 7 - 18th April 2007

Our parents decided not to put us in the Club today, yippie!! We got to spend the entire day with them! First we went to get our hair braided...

Kara got bored it took so long that she fell asleep!

I soon got bored too so 3 aunties had to quickly braid the rest of my hair while Daddy held me down!

Then we had a game of basketball together...

and rode on the motorised car...cos Aunty Evon begged the instructors to let us have a go at it since we were too afraid to ride it yesterday.

And finally rounded the day off with some swimming!

Day 8 - 19th April 2007

Sob! Its our last day here and we got up extra early to catch our 930am flight home.

Some pictures for the road!

All tucked up for cartoons and a snooze on the plane! I had a blast on this trip! But Mummy and Daddy say that this will be our last trip together as a family of three. They said that they have scored again.....hmmm...i wonder what that means???
